
Srinagar, Aug 27: Police have registered an FIR against five shopkeepers for allegedly obstructing roadside space at Jehangir Chowk, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and affecting vehicular movement.
Officials said the shopkeepers had placed matting outside their establishments, allegedly occupying portions of the roadside and restricting the free movement of people and vehicles.
Authorities said the obstruction at the busy junction also posed a potential safety risk for commuters and pedestrians.
Police have initiated legal proceedings against the five shopkeepers under relevant provisions of law.
