
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday reviewed the flood situation in Rajouri and Poonch districts following incessant rainfall and flash floods, directing authorities to ensure immediate relief and assistance to affected families.
In a statement, the Lieutenant Governor said he spoke to senior officials to assess the situation and was informed that rescue teams from the civil administration, police, Army, SDRF and local volunteers are actively engaged in rescue and relief operations, particularly in Rajouri district.
He said families affected by the floods have been shifted to safer locations and that all departments have been placed on high alert, with priority being given to relief measures and restoration of damaged infrastructure.
Urging residents to remain calm, the Lieutenant Governor appealed to people to follow official advisories and updates issued by the administration.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives in Rajouri and the Haveli and Surankote areas of Poonch district, Manoj Sinha conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families.
He also noted that heavy rains had caused extensive damage to several houses in Rajouri and Poonch and said he had directed officials to provide immediate assistance to all affected families while ensuring emergency response teams remain fully prepared to deal with any further contingencies.
