July 19, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday announced that he will leave New Delhi for Jammu this afternoon to personally monitor the situation arising from incessant rainfall and the weather alert issued for several parts of the Jammu division.

In a statement, the Chief Minister said he has been closely monitoring developments since early Sunday morning, particularly in Rajouri town and adjoining areas, where extremely heavy rainfall has caused widespread disruption.

Omar Abdullah said he is in constant contact with local MLAs and senior officials to assess the ground situation and ensure a swift and coordinated response.

Emphasising that protecting human lives remains the government's top priority, he said the administration has been fully mobilised to provide all possible assistance to people affected by heavy rains, flash floods and damage to property.

He assured that every effort is being made to ensure timely rescue, relief and rehabilitation in all affected areas.

The Chief Minister also clarified that his visit to Jammu will not affect the National Conference's scheduled protest in Delhi seeking the restoration of statehood, which will go ahead under the leadership of JKNC President Dr Farooq Abdullah.
