Jammu, October 7: Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir, Sanjeev Verma has announced a two-day Special Intensive Voter Enrolment Drive across the Union Territory on October 10 and 11, with polling stations set to remain open to facilitate eligible citizens.
The drive will be conducted at all polling stations from 9 am to 5 pm on both days. Citizens will be able to register as voters and update or correct their electoral details during the exercise.
The announcement was made during a review meeting chaired by the CEO with District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers.
Verma directed election officials to intensify public outreach and ensure that no eligible citizen is left out of the electoral rolls. He also said that similar voter facilitation drives would be organised regularly on weekends.
District and electoral authorities have been asked to conduct institutional and public awareness activities and provide regular updates through social media, including details of polling stations, Assembly Constituencies and districts.
Booth Level Officers will remain available at polling stations during the drive to assist citizens with Forms 6, 7 and 8. These forms are used for new voter enrolment, deletion of names and correction or updating of electoral particulars.
Voters will also be able to access digital assistance through the Voter Helpline App.
The CEO further directed BLOs to undertake door-to-door outreach, with particular attention to young people, first-time voters, women, Persons with Disabilities and other citizens requiring assistance with voter registration or electoral records.
Verma urged all eligible citizens to visit their nearest polling station on October 10 or 11 and use the facilities being provided under the special enrolment drive.
