October 30, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Shopian, Oct 30: Police have arrested 10 suspected associates after claiming to have uncovered an alleged militant financing network operating in connection with militants and their associates lodged in various jails.

The case came to light following the detection of suspicious online financial transactions conducted through different digital payment platforms. According to police, a detailed examination of these transactions helped investigators follow multiple financial trails and identify individuals allegedly involved in channelising funds.

The arrested persons have been identified as Owais Shafi Naikoo, Tajamul Ahmad Shah, Moiz Iqbal, Imdad Yousuf Ganie, Saqib Zahoor Wani, Aamir Ahmad Ganie, Firdous Thokar, Liyaqat Nazir Lone, Muhammad Hanief and Kaju.

Preliminary investigations have indicated that the suspects were allegedly collecting money from members of the public and transferring it through established financial channels to support the activities of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF), police said.

Investigators further suspect that the money was being utilised to provide logistical assistance to the groups, including the procurement of smartphones and other resources required for their activities.

In connection with the case, FIR No. 231/2026 has been registered at Police Station Shopian under relevant provisions of law.

Police said the investigation is continuing to uncover the full extent of the alleged network, establish additional financial connections and identify other individuals suspected of involvement. Further arrests cannot be ruled out, they added.
