Police Solve Uri Hit-and-Run Case Within Hours, Labourer Remains Critical

Uri, August 13: Police have arrested a man allegedly involved in a hit-and-run incident in the Salasan area of Boniyar, hours after a labourer was critically injured, officials said.

The accused has been identified as Mohd Amin Ganie, son of Abdul Rasheed Ganie and a resident of Larri, Boniyar. Police have also seized the vehicle allegedly involved in the incident.

The case relates to Mohd Ismail Dhaker, 30, son of Ashmali Dhaker and a resident of Salasan, who was struck by an unidentified vehicle in the area on Wednesday evening.

Following the accident, local residents shifted the injured man to PHC Boniyar for immediate medical attention. Due to the critical nature of his injuries, he was subsequently referred to GMC Baramulla for specialised treatment.

Police Station Boniyar registered a case following the incident and launched an investigation to trace the vehicle and identify the person allegedly responsible.

Officials said police managed to solve the case and arrest the accused within hours of the incident.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
