Kashmir Marathon ‘Run For Unity’ Flagged Off From Dal Lake, More Events Planned

Srinagar, October 1: The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s “Run For Unity” Kashmir Marathon was flagged off by ADGP Armed Nitish Kumar from the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar on Thursday morning.

 

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, Kumar said the police department is preparing several more public events in the coming days.

 

He said a cycle race would be organised shortly, while the much-awaited Jashn-e-Dal and a water sports festival on Dal Lake are also scheduled to take place soon.

 

Kumar expressed satisfaction over the response to the marathon, saying participation exceeded expectations. He said people from different backgrounds, along with athletes from outside Jammu and Kashmir, took part in the event.

 

He also highlighted the participation of young people, describing their growing involvement in such activities as significant and saying they represent the future leadership of the region.

 

Meanwhile, Srinagar Traffic Police had issued a detailed traffic advisory and route diversion plan ahead of the marathon.
