Jammu, Sep 29: Jammu Police have uncovered an alleged counterfeit currency racket in the Chowadhi area and arrested three men accused of printing fake currency notes at a rented accommodation.

According to police, the operation was carried out by a team from Police Post Sainik Colony, under Police Station Channi Himmat, following specific information about suspected counterfeit currency production at the premises.

The arrested persons have been identified as Vijay Sahani, son of Nagina Sahani, originally from Siwan, Bihar, and currently residing in Preet Nagar, Digiana; Indrajeet Kumar, son of Abdesh Mandal, a native of Maharajpur, Sahibganj, Jharkhand, presently living in Trikuta Nagar; and Rahul Ahirwar, son of Bhagwan Das Ahirwar, originally from Khajraho, Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, currently residing in Marble Market, Jammu.

During the search, police seized suspected counterfeit Rs 100 notes with a total face value of Rs 13,500. A printing machine, paper cutter, ink bottles of different colours, a toka and other materials allegedly used in the operation were also recovered.

In connection with the case, FIR No. 269/2026 has been registered at Police Station Channi Himmat under Sections 178, 180, 181 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act. Further investigation is underway.

Police said the investigation aims to establish the alleged network's method of operation, trace the source and intended circulation of the suspected counterfeit notes, and determine whether other individuals were involved.
