CUKashmir holds NAAC data workshop

October 06, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Ganderbal, Oct 6: The Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA), Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), on Tuesday commenced a three-day sensitisation and orientation workshop on “NAAC Data Consolidation and Faculty Profile Updation on the SAMARTH Portal” at Tulmulla Campus.
The workshop is aimed at strengthening institutional preparedness for NAAC accreditation and other national rankings through accurate, consistent and evidence-based data management.
Registrar Dr Nisar Ahmad Mir said the quality of accreditation and ranking depended significantly on how accurately and coherently institutional information was presented.
“Our focus should be on authentic, consistent and evidence-based information that truly reflects the University’s students, faculty, infrastructure, research and resources,” he said, urging participants to share the workshop’s learning with their colleagues.
Director DIQA Prof Syed Zahoor Ahmad Geelani stressed the need for collective ownership of quality assurance, saying no department or unit could work in isolation.
He noted that the emerging accreditation system would increasingly be data-driven, data-based and AI-based, making accuracy, consistency and preparedness essential. He urged the university community to continuously update skills, courses, faculty profiles and institutional practices.
Prof Geelani also thanked Vice Chancellor Prof A Ravinder Nath for his support and encouragement in strengthening quality assurance initiatives.
Director Admissions Dr Arif Nazir underlined the importance of accurate and consistent institutional data, saying NAAC assessment involved both quantitative and qualitative parameters and that the manner in which data was presented was equally important.
Deputy Director DIQA Dr Faizan Ashraf Mir described NAAC accreditation as a process of institutional introspection, learning and continuous quality enhancement rather than merely a grading exercise. He emphasised that quality assurance was the collective responsibility of every teacher, department, school and administrative unit.
Head, Department of Physical Education, Dr Kaukab Azeem, was also present.
During the technical sessions, DIQA members Dr Faizan Ashraf Mir, Dr Moyeed ul Zaffar, Dr Gulafroz Jan, Arshad Me’raj and Imtiyaz Ahmad Najar delivered presentations on AQAR filing and data requirements.
Er Suhail Ahmad Ahanger briefed participants on the NIRF ranking system, while Senior Assistant Librarian Dr Tariq Ahmad Shah spoke on research publications and visibility.
Dr Gulafroz Jan conducted the programme, while Dr Faizan Ashraf Mir proposed the vote of thanks.
