The Traffic Police J&K, under the directions of the Inspector General of Traffic Police- J&K, have initiated an intensive enforcement drive against the illegal use of pressure horns across the Union Territory.

In a handout issued today, the Traffic Police reiterated that Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, in its directions dated 10.12.2013 in SLP No. (C) 25237/2010 titled Abhay Singh VS State of Uttar Pradesh & Ors., has banned the use of all types of pressure horns. Taking serious note of the violation, all motorists have been strictly advised to -Refrain from using pressure horns or any unauthorized sound-producing devices; Ensure immediate removal of such devices from their vehicles; Comply with provisions of Rule 119 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR), 1989.

Traffic Police Units across J&K have been directed to intensify checking drives and take strict legal action against violators. Special focus will be laid on identified congestion points, highways and urban areas to curb this menace effectively.
