Ramban, September 16: A government school teacher in Ramban has been suspended following a complaint alleging harassment of a girl student, officials said.

The teacher, Raiz Ahmed, is posted at Government High School Harroge in Zone Gool. His suspension followed a report submitted by an inquiry committee constituted by the education department on September 14.

The inquiry was initiated after a girl student submitted a complaint alleging harassment by Ahmed at the school.

An order issued by the Chief Education Officer, Ramban, states that Ahmed has been placed under suspension under Rule 31 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956.

During the suspension period, he has been attached to Government Primary School Bhatta in Zone Khari.

The education department has indicated that further action will be taken after considering the findings of the inquiry committee.

The allegations remain subject to the inquiry process and have not been established through any final disciplinary or judicial finding.
