Srinagar, Aug 10: The District Srinagar Chess Association is set to organise the District Chess Championship for boys and girls at Gindun Stadium, Rajbagh, Srinagar, on August 15, 2026, in collaboration with the All J&K Chess Association and under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council.

The championship is expected to provide young chess players from across Jammu and Kashmir an important platform to showcase their skills, gain competitive experience and test themselves against players from different districts.
The organisers have extended an invitation to enthusiastic chess players from across the Union Territory to participate in the prestigious event. The championship will feature competitions for both boys and girls, with participants expected to compete in a competitive environment designed to encourage the growth of chess at the grassroots level.
The District Srinagar Chess Association said the event is aimed at promoting chess among youngsters and creating greater opportunities for emerging players to develop their competitive abilities. Regular district-level competitions, organisers noted, can help identify promising talent and provide players with exposure needed to progress to higher levels of competition.
