Srinagar, July 27: The Jammu Srinagar National Highway, NH 44, remained closed on Monday after a landslide struck the Dewal area of Udhampur district, prompting authorities to continue clearance operations to restore traffic.
Officials said the highway is still unsafe for vehicular movement because of the risk of fresh landslides and falling rocks along the affected stretch. Road restoration teams are working to remove debris, but traffic will remain suspended until the route is declared safe.
Authorities have advised commuters to avoid travelling on the highway until an official announcement confirms its reopening.
The public has also been urged to ignore unverified reports circulating about the highway's status and rely only on official traffic advisories for accurate and timely updates.
