October 25, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

West Siang, Oct 24: Formations under the Spear Corps of the Indian Army conducted a Basic White Water Rafting Course for National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, aiming to promote adventure, discipline and patriotism among the youth.

The programme provided cadets with an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of white water rafting through a combination of theoretical sessions and practical training. The course was designed to familiarise participants with the basics of rafting while encouraging teamwork, confidence and the ability to respond to challenging situations.
As part of the training, cadets undertook swimming and river-crossing drills to strengthen their water skills, endurance and preparedness. The practical activities also emphasised coordination, mutual trust and the importance of following safety procedures during adventure-based exercises.
The programme featured a motivational lecture on joining the Armed Forces, offering cadets insights into military life, career opportunities and the values of service, commitment and leadership. A display of weapons and military equipment further familiarised the participants with the Army’s operational resources and functioning.
The initiative reflected the Indian Army’s continued efforts to engage with young people in the Northeast through training, adventure activities and outreach programmes. By combining physical challenges with exposure to military life, the course sought to nurture leadership qualities, self-confidence and a sense of responsibility among the cadets.
The programme also aimed to strengthen the bond between the Indian Army and the NCC, encouraging greater interaction and cooperation between the two institutions.
Through such initiatives, formations under the Spear Corps continue to promote a spirit of adventure, national integration and patriotism among youth, while inspiring them to embrace discipline, teamwork and service to the nation.
