Saddar Police Issue Theft Advisory for Mehjoor Nagar, Rambagh Residents

October 25, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE
Srinagar, Oct 25: Police Station Saddar has issued a public advisory for residents of Mehjoor Nagar and Rambagh in Srinagar following a rise in reported theft cases involving houses, cars, motorcycles and other valuables.

In the advisory, police urged residents to take precautionary measures to protect their property, particularly vehicles left unattended along roadsides, the bund and other open areas.

People have been advised to park their vehicles in designated and secure parking spaces wherever possible. Police also recommended obtaining receipts when using paid parking facilities and keeping vehicles inside residential premises whenever adequate space is available.

The advisory also emphasised the importance of tenant verification. Residents have been asked to submit complete details of tenants to the concerned police station and complete the prescribed verification process before accommodating them.

Police stressed that failure to complete tenant verification could create difficulties in establishing the identity and whereabouts of individuals during investigations, particularly when suspects leave the locality after an incident.

Residents have been urged to remain alert, secure their belongings and cooperate with police efforts to prevent thefts and strengthen security across the affected neighbourhoods.
