Srinagar, Aug 10: Security arrangements have been tightened across Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Independence Day with police and paramilitary personnel intensifying frisking, vehicle checks and surveillance at different locations in the UT.

The main function of I-Day will be held at Bakshi Stadium, where Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will unfurl the tri-colcour.
Ahead of the I-Day, police and paramilitary personnel have intensified vigil and were checking vehicles and their occupants at various points as part of the heightened security measures.
The security personnel were conducting thorough frisking of vehicles and commuters.
The security personnel were maintaining a close watch on movement of people along busy roads and commercial areas.
The heightened security presence comes ahead of Independence Day, with authorities increasing preventive measures to monitor movement and maintain security across the city.
Motorists and commuters have been subjected to checks at several locations, while security personnel continue to maintain a visible presence in Srinagar as part of the arrangements for the national event.
Security apparatus has also been tightened in other parts of the Valley, including Baramulla, Kupwara, Kulgam and Anantnag, where security personnel have intensified checking and surveillance at key entry and exit points.
Security has also been strengthened in Jammu region, including Jammu city, Samba, Rajouri and Poonch, with additional checking of vehicles and increased deployment of personnel at vulnerable and strategically important locations.
Authorities have also stepped up security along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. Security personnel are maintaining heightened vigilance along the highway and at important points to monitor vehicular movement and prevent any untoward incident.
Enhanced security measures have been put in place in areas close to the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border, particularly in sensitive sectors.
