Yet the real beauty of Gurez and Tulail has always been its people.
For generations, the people of these valleys have been known for their simplicity, innocence, generosity and unmatched hospitality. A guest entering a traditional home was treated with warmth and respect. Our language, customs, traditions, folk culture and close community bonds have given this region an identity that is truly unique.
The opening of the region to tourism has brought many opportunities. Tourism can generate employment, strengthen local businesses, promote handicrafts and create new avenues for the younger generation. It can connect our remote communities with the wider world.
But development also demands responsibility.
Alongside the positive aspects of tourism, we are increasingly concerned about certain undesirable influences—drug abuse, excessive drinking, smuggling, irresponsible behaviour, littering and the gradual erosion of traditional values. These problems must not be allowed to become part of the identity of our beautiful valleys.
We must remember that tourism should change our economic opportunities, not destroy our culture and character.
The responsibility belongs to everyone. Parents must guide their children. Teachers must educate young minds about the dangers of addiction. Community leaders must promote social responsibility. Young people must become ambassadors of a healthy and progressive society. Visitors must respect local culture, religious sentiments and the natural environment.
Most importantly, we must keep our homeland clean.
A plastic bottle thrown into a stream, garbage left beside a waterfall or waste scattered across a meadow may seem insignificant to one person, but collectively such actions can permanently damage our environment.
Let us therefore promote clean tourism, responsible tourism and sustainable tourism.
Let every visitor leave Gurez and Tulail with beautiful memories—not piles of garbage.
Let our youth choose education over addiction, employment over smuggling, health over alcohol and dignity over destructive influences.
Gurez and Tulail must develop, but development must walk hand in hand with culture, morality and environmental responsibility.
Our mountains are our heritage.
Our rivers are our lifeline.
Our culture is our identity.
Our youth are our future.
Let us protect all four.

Protect Our Paradise Before It Is Too Late
Respected elders, dear teachers, brothers, sisters and my dear young friends,
Today, I want to speak about something that belongs to all of us—our beautiful Gurez and Tulail.
We are fortunate to live in a land blessed with magnificent mountains, green meadows, beautiful waterfalls, clear streams and breathtaking landscapes.
But, my dear friends, the greatest treasure of our valleys is not only our mountains and waterfalls.
Our greatest treasure is our people, our culture and our values.
Our ancestors left us a tradition of simplicity, honesty, hospitality and brotherhood. A guest was welcomed as a blessing. Our language, customs and traditions made our community different and special.
Tourism has opened new doors for our region. It has created opportunities for business, employment and development. We should welcome positive development.
But we must ask ourselves one important question:
What kind of development do we want?
Do we want development that gives our youth opportunities while protecting our culture?
Or do we want development that brings drugs, alcohol, smuggling, pollution and the loss of our traditional values?
The choice is ours.
Dear young people, your future is in your hands. Do not allow drugs or addiction to steal your dreams. Do not allow illegal activities to destroy your reputation and your future.
Choose education.
Choose sports.
Choose skills.
Choose honest work.
Choose a healthy life.
And to every citizen and every visitor, I have one simple request:
Please keep Gurez and Tulail clean.
Do not throw plastic into our rivers.
Do not leave garbage near waterfalls.
Do not pollute our meadows.
Do not destroy the beauty that nature has gifted us.
Let every tourist who visits our valley say:
“The people of Gurez and Tulail are as beautiful in their hearts as their homeland is beautiful in its landscape.”
Let us welcome tourism—but with responsibility.
Let us embrace development—but without sacrificing our identity.
