Rajouri, Sep 9: Promising young athletes from across Rajouri showcased their talent, determination and sporting spirit at the Inter-Zonal District Level Athletics Meet for All Age Groups (Girls), organised by the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports at Lamberi.

The meet witnessed enthusiastic participation from girls representing different zones of the district, with athletes competing in a range of track and field events. Their performances reflected the growing interest in sports among girls and the immense talent emerging at the grassroots level.
In the track events, Brishti Devi of Dandesar secured the Under-14 title, while Saruchi Sharma of Rajouri emerged winner in Under-17 and Simran Devi of Dandesar topped the Under-19 category.
The field events also produced impressive performances. In Javelin Throw, Aliza Ashraf of Dandesar, Avantika Rajput of Rajouri and Misbah Kousar of Dandesar won the Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 titles respectively.
In Shot Put, Tanvi Kour of Lower Hathal, Bumika Devi of Dandesar and Sunakshi Devi of Sunderbani emerged winners in the Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 categories.
The High Jump titles went to Vashali Sharma of Lower Hathal in Under-14, Sonia Basharat of Rajouri in Under-17 and Rubia Kousar of Dandesar in Under-19.
In Long Jump, Sonia Akhter of Koteranka, Kajal Rajput of Lower Hathal and Saima Kousar of Rajouri secured the Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 titles respectively.
The Directorate of Youth Services & Sports has continued to focus on creating greater opportunities for girls to participate in competitive sports and realise their potential. The initiative reflects the vision of Director General Youth Services & Sports Anuradha Gupta, whose emphasis on grassroots sporting activities has helped expand platforms for young athletes.
Under the guidance of DYSSO Rajouri Wali Mohd, the district is also working to widen sporting opportunities and encourage youngsters to pursue excellence through participation, discipline and sustained effort.
The successful conduct of the meet reaffirmed the department’s commitment to promoting the spirit of “Play, Perform and Progress”, giving young athletes an opportunity to turn talent into confidence, confidence into performance and performance into achievement.
