NIA Conducts Searches at 10 Locations in Kashmir in LeT Conspiracy Case

Srinagar, Sep 12: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted searches at ten locations across Jammu and Kashmir as part of its investigation into a cross-border terror conspiracy involving Pakistan-based handlers of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its network of Over Ground Workers (OGWs).

According to the NIA, the searches were carried out in Kupwara, Kulgam, Bandipora, Baramulla and Sopore to gather additional evidence and determine the role of individuals allegedly involved in providing logistical and other forms of assistance to infiltrated terrorists.

The case was initially registered as FIR No. 0024/2026 at Police Station Zakoora in Srinagar. It was subsequently taken over and re-registered by the NIA as RC-02/2026/NIA/JMU under Section 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, along with Sections 7 and 25 of the Arms Act and Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act.

The investigation began following the arrest of an alleged LeT-linked OGW at a naka point during the late hours of March 31, 2026. A hand grenade and live ammunition were reportedly recovered from his possession. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Pakistani nationals allegedly connected with the conspiracy and helped investigators identify members of the local support network.

The NIA said its investigation has so far established links between Pakistan-based LeT handlers and their local associates. These associates were allegedly involved in facilitating communication, movement and concealment of infiltrated terrorists, besides providing shelter, conducting reconnaissance and arranging other logistical support.

The agency is also examining the financial transactions, communication networks, movements of the accused and the sources and supply chains of weapons and explosives. The exercise is aimed at identifying the complete network and determining the extent of its activities.

During Saturday's searches, the NIA seized material suspected to be relevant to the case. The agency said the material is being examined and will be corroborated with other evidence gathered during the investigation.

The NIA said its probe remains underway to identify all individuals allegedly involved in the conspiracy and establish their specific roles. Further arrests, recoveries and legal action may follow depending on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
