
Jammu, September 7: A man from South Kashmir, who was in the custody of the Narcotics Control Bureau in connection with a drug-related case, allegedly escaped from the agency’s headquarters in Jammu, prompting a search operation.
The accused has been identified as Aqib Bashir, a resident of Kakapora in Pulwama district.
Officials said Bashir managed to escape from the NCB office late Sunday night while he was in the agency’s custody.
Following the incident, senior officials were informed and multiple teams were deployed to trace and apprehend him. Searches are being conducted at various locations across Jammu.
Police have also been alerted, with checkpoints established at several locations in and around the city to prevent the accused from leaving the area.
An inquiry is likely to be conducted to determine how the accused managed to escape and establish responsibility for the security lapse.
