Srinagar, Oct 31: Senior National Conference leader Salman Sagar on Saturday dismissed reports of internal differences within the party, describing the grievances as an internal family matter and asserting that the party remains strong.
Speaking to reporters, Sagar said a recent meeting involving senior party colleagues, including former three-time and four-time legislators, was a routine interaction that had been unnecessarily given prominence.
He said differences and grievances are natural in any organisation, adding that every individual has the right to express dissatisfaction.
Describing the matter as an internal issue, Sagar said the resentment within the party was not as serious as being portrayed in media reports.
On resolving the concerns, he said party president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah would listen to the grievances of the senior leaders. He added that the issues found genuine and justified by the party leadership would be addressed.
Sagar also expressed confidence that attempts by those opposed to the National Conference to create divisions within the party would not succeed.
Clarifying reports regarding the General Secretary's post, he said the current arrangement was temporary and administrative in nature, as the incumbent had sought some time.
He further described senior leaders, including Mian Altaf Ahmad, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi and Justice (Retd.) Hasnain Masoodi, as important pillars of the party, asserting that they would continue to remain associated with the National Conference.
