
NEP-focused schools convention held in Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 27: The Indian Schools Convention under theme “Strengthening School Education for National Development under the National Education Policy (NEP)" was organised by the Centre for NaMo Studies (CNMS) in collaboration with the Media Centre at the India International Centre, New Delhi on Thursday.
The programme was graced by Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, former Governor of Assam, as the Chief Guest, who applauded the efforts of schools contributing towards quality and inclusive education in line with NEP 2020.
Addressing the gathering, Ex Gov Mukhi described NEP 2020 as a historic and transformative step in India’s education journey. He stated that after independence, such a comprehensive policy has come into effect, and with its complete implementation, students will receive better education and the overall quality of education in the country will significantly improve.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Khwaja Iftikhar Ahmed highlighted that the National Education Policy carries a strong message of harmony. "The National Education carries the spirit of harmony. It teaches us to respect diversity, build mutual understanding, and create a society where people live together with peace and shared values," he said.
Principal Guest Justice Iqbal Ahmed Ansari, former Chief Justice of Patna High Court, stressed the need to focus on quality education. He stated that true educational progress is possible only through the complete implementation of NEP and added that the policy should also be used as a means to promote communal harmony and national integration.
Speaking on the occasion Introductory Remarks, Prof. Jasim Mohammad, Chairman, Centre for NaMo Studies, emphasised that the purpose of organising the convention is to recognise schools contributing to quality, inclusive, and value-based education, while also promoting the vision and objectives of NEP 2020 across the country.
Guest of Honor Swami Devendra Brahmachari appreciated the efforts of the Centre for NaMo Studies and remarked that it is a collective responsibility to strengthen such a think tank and ensure its success in contributing to nation-building.
The Guests of Honour included Maya Kulshreshtha, Kathak Artist & Member, Rajbhasha Samiti, Ministry of Home Affairs, Dr Fareed Chughtai Secretary Delhi World Foundation and Dr Aparna Singh from BHU. The session was chaired by Firoz Bakht Ahmed, former Chancellor of MANUU, as Chairman of the Jury.
The convention witnessed active participation from leading institutions, including The Air Force School, Modern Public School Shalimar Bagh,DWPS, The Real Life School and Modern School Barakhamba Road, whose students and faculty attended in large numbers. These schools were also among those recognised with the Best School Awards 2026 during the convention.
A significant highlight of the convention was the official launch of the Aligarh Literature Festival, marking a new initiative in the field of intellectual and literary engagement. Additionally, the Adhyayan Education Project, a school franchising initiative based on holistic development in line with NEP 2020, was also launched during the event.
The programme included coordination by Director Media Centre Nikhat Parveen, Tushita Bhandari, Dr. Daulat Ram, Dr Amna Mirza, Dhananjay Kumar and Dr Deeba while it was effectively moderated by Dr. Amrita Sastry. The convention concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Divya Tanwar
