Man Dies After Collapsing at R.S. Pura Police Post, Family Questions Circumstances

 

Jammu, Sep 9: A 32-year-old man died after reportedly falling unconscious at Chakroi police post in the R.S. Pura area of Jammu on Wednesday, prompting his family to question the circumstances surrounding his death and seek a fair investigation.

 

The deceased has been identified as Uttam Chand, a resident of Rakh village. He had reportedly been called to the police post in connection with a complaint filed by a woman over a property dispute.

 

According to reports, Chand fell unconscious while at the police post and was taken to Sub-District Hospital R.S. Pura. Doctors referred him to Government Medical College Jammu, but he died while being shifted to the hospital.

 

His body was later shifted to a mortuary for postmortem examination.

 

Following his death, family members and relatives held a protest, seeking clarity over the events that preceded Chand's collapse. Senior police officers reportedly reached the spot after the protest.

 

The exact cause of death has not yet been established. The postmortem examination is expected to ascertain the medical cause, while the circumstances leading to his collapse remain under investigation.
