Tirap, Aug 17: The Assam Rifles celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour at Laju village in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on August 15, drawing around 1,000 villagers, along with local dignitaries and political representatives.

The celebrations featured a series of ceremonial and cultural activities, creating a strong sense of community participation and national pride among the border population.
The programme commenced with wreath-laying and flag hoisting, followed by a ceremonial Guard of Honour to the National Flag by personnel of the Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police. A march past further added to the solemnity and grandeur of the occasion.
The celebrations also included vibrant cultural and sporting events, providing an opportunity for villagers, particularly young participants, to actively engage in the Independence Day programme.
A mass rendition of “Vande Mataram” became one of the highlights of the celebrations, with villagers and participants joining together in a collective expression of patriotism and national unity.
The enthusiastic participation of nearly 1,000 residents reflected the strong connection of the border community with the national celebrations.
