
Srinagar, May 13: The University of Kashmir (KU) organised screenings of the documentary film “Drug Addiction- A Threat to Life” across its various teaching departments and satellite campuses as part of the ongoing 100 Days Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.
Coordinated by the Department of Students Welfare (DSW), the initiative witnessed participation from students and faculty across the campuses, who viewed the documentary with keen interest.
Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan in her message said, “Awareness and education are essential in preventing substance abuse among young people. Universities must continue to create platforms that encourage informed choices, emotional resilience, and healthy lifestyles among students.”
She added that meaningful engagement through educational initiatives can play an important role in helping students develop confidence, responsibility, and a sense of social awareness.
Produced by Er. Abdul Rasheed, Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC) KU, the film presents the social and personal consequences of substance abuse and highlights the need for collective efforts to address the growing problem of drug addiction among youth.
The screenings were organised under the broader campaign launched under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor of UT of Jammu & Kashmir and Chancellor of the University, Shri Manoj Sinha.
The programme aimed to sensitise students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encourage responsible and positive engagement within society.
