Gulmarg hosts national painting camp

Srinagar, April 21: A five-day National Painting Camp titled “Vision Bharat @ 2047” was formally inaugurated at the renowned tourist destination of Gulmarg. The camp is being jointly organised by the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, and the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Gulmarg, Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Principal Secretary, Culture, Shri Brij Mohan Sharma attended as the Guest of Honour. Also present on the occasion were Assistant Director, NZCC Patiala, Ravinder Sharma, and Additional Secretary, J&K Cultural Academy, Adeel Saleem.
The five-day camp is witnessing participation from eminent and seasoned artists from various states across the country. Through their artwork, the artists will depict the theme “Vision Bharat @ 2047” along with the scenic beauty of Gulmarg.
During the event, the dignitaries interacted with the participating artists from within and outside the Union Territory and appreciated their creative works.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Secretary Culture, Shri Brij Mohan Sharma, termed the aayojan of such an artistic camp at a picturesque location like Gulmarg as a welcome step. He stated that such initiatives not only promote fine arts but also strengthen cultural harmony among diverse communities. He further emphasized that such programmes play a vital role in fostering national integration and provide a meaningful platform for artists to express their creativity.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah appreciated the aayojan of cultural programmes in Gulmarg and lauded the efforts of NZCC and the J&K Cultural Academy. He said that such initiatives not only boost tourism but also give a new dimension to local art and culture.
Assistant Director NZCC, Ravinder Sharma, and Additional Secretary, J&K Cultural Academy, Adeel Saleem, also expressed their gratitude to the guests and participating artists, expressing hope for organizing more such camps in the future.
On the occasion, renowned artist K.K. Gandhi presented a beautiful painting as a token of appreciation to the Chief Guest.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Mohammad Saleem Salik, Editor, Urdu of the Cultural Academy.
