Srinagar, Aug 26: Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday with religious fervour, with thousands of devotees thronging the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar.

Devotees offered prayers at the shrine, which houses sacred relics of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was displayed for devotees following the prayers.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah offered Zuhr prayers at Hazratbal and prayed for peace, prosperity and development in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board had made special arrangements at the shrine in view of the large gathering of devotees.
In Baramulla, a major religious procession was held from the Syed Janbaz Wali (RA) shrine through the Main Market towards Dargah Aaliha Asar-e-Sharief, with devotees participating in large numbers.
In Ganderbal, children and devotees took part in religious processions at different places to mark the occasion, while similar processions and gatherings were reported from other parts of the district.
Anantnag also witnessed religious gatherings and processions at several prominent shrines and religious places, including Khiram Dargah Shareef, Kabamarg, Reshmool, Aishmuqam and Seer Hamdan.
Across the Valley, processions were marked by the recitation of durood, naats and religious slogans, with devotees carrying religious flags and walking in groups through local streets and markets.
The Milad processions were also taken out in the Jammu region.
The Milad gatherings were also held at various places across Jammu and Kashmir, where religious scholars and clerics spoke about the life, teachings and message of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and his contribution to humanity.
Authorities maintained heightened vigilance and intensified security arrangements across Kashmir in view of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), with special focus on major shrines, mosques and other religious places witnessing large gatherings.
