SRINAGAR: Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar on Tuesday celebrated Doordarshan’s 67th Foundation Day along with National Engineers’ Day, highlighting the broadcaster’s legacy of public service and the vital role of its engineering fraternity.

The event underscored Doordarshan’s commitment to informing, educating and entertaining audiences while recognising the technical expertise that ensures seamless broadcasting.

Deputy Director General (Engineering) H.P. Meena described engineers as the backbone of modern broadcasting, saying their work enables smooth news bulletins, live transmissions and programmes.

Director News, Regional News Unit, DDK Srinagar, Qazi Salman, said the coordination between editorial and engineering teams remains crucial for credible, timely and impactful broadcasting.

Assistant Directors (Engineering) S.N.H. Abidi and Vinod Arya highlighted the rapid transformation of broadcasting technology and the role of engineers in adopting digital platforms and advanced production systems.

Assistant Director News Shabir Ahmad Dar stressed continuous technological upgradation, innovation and skill development, while Editor News Sheikh Mudasir Amin said the future of broadcasting lies in combining technology, creativity and public service.

The celebrations also highlighted DDK Srinagar’s role in showcasing the culture, traditions, voices and aspirations of Jammu and Kashmir to audiences across the region and beyond.
