The Vice Chancellor spoke about the rapidly increasing ageing population and the urgent need to adopt sustainable health practices that ensure quality of life in later years. “The ageing population is growing not only in India but across the world. While healthcare and medical interventions are essential, preventive health measures are equally important. Yoga offers a practical, accessible and scientifically validated pathway towards healthy ageing. Through regular practice, individuals can maintain physical fitness, emotional stability and mental clarity well into their later years,” he remarked.
CUKashmir Vice Chancellor, further added that the University is exploring the possibility of introducing certificate and diploma courses in yoga, aimed at equipping students and faculty members with both theoretical knowledge and practical training.
The event was coordinated by the I/c Director, Sports, Dr. Kaukab Azeem, who while proposing the vote of thanks outlined the University’s plans for follow-up activities and encouraged participants to continue practising yoga regularly for sustained health benefits.
