Ganderbal, April 1: The Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) launched the learner-centric Earn While Learn Scheme, aimed at empowering students to contribute to university activities while earning financial assistance. During the orientation programme, Vice-Chancellor Prof. A Ravinder Nath encouraged students to actively engage in the scheme and contribute meaningfully to academic and administrative functions.
“Education extends beyond classrooms to shaping responsible, socially aware individuals. This scheme allows students to develop skills such as communication, analytical thinking, and social responsibility, preparing them for real-world challenges,” Prof. Nath said.
Offer letters were distributed to 84 selected students by the Vice-Chancellor, accompanied by Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Shahid Rasool, Dean DSW Dr. Jehirul Islam, department heads, and senior university officials.
Prof. Nath emphasized participation in outreach initiatives, sustainability, cleanliness, and community welfare, highlighting the importance of trust, integrity, and commitment among the first batch of participants.
Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Rasool noted the scheme aligns with NEP 2020 objectives, integrating academic learning with practical exposure. Students will serve as academic interns, assisting faculty with research, content development, and lab work, and as outreach interns, engaging in community-oriented initiatives.
Dean DSW Dr. Jehirul Islam reported that 243 applications were received, with 83 students selected. The scheme is designed to promote self-reliance, responsibility, and dignity of labour among students.
The programme was conducted by Youth Welfare Officer Dr. Adil Amin Nazki, with a vote of thanks by Nodal Welfare Officer Dr. Ramjit.
