Bandipora, July 28: A cloudburst struck the Nagmarg area of north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Tuesday, triggering flash floods in several downstream villages and causing panic among residents.

The cloudburst in the upper reaches sent a powerful surge of muddy water and debris rushing downstream, inundating low-lying areas and disrupting normal life in the affected villages.

Residents said water levels rose rapidly within minutes, with floodwaters entering vulnerable areas and posing a threat to homes, agricultural land, and local infrastructure.

The sudden flooding forced many people to move to safer locations as streams overflowed and strong currents swept through parts of the region.

Officials said the situation is being closely monitored, and teams are assessing the extent of the damage. No casualties or injuries were reported immediately. Authorities have urged residents living near streams and other flood-prone areas to remain alert as adverse weather conditions continue.
