Kohima, Oct 30 : The Assam Rifles organised promotional roadshows at Chumoukedima Market on October 28 and Medziphema Market on October 29 to generate public awareness and encourage participation in the 10th edition of the Late Captain Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament.

The tournament is scheduled to be held from November 2 to 9, 2026, at IG Stadium, Kohima, in honour of Captain Kenguruse, who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
The roadshows witnessed enthusiastic public participation and helped generate awareness about the upcoming sporting event. Through these outreach activities, the Assam Rifles sought to encourage football enthusiasts, local residents and young players to participate in the tournament and make it a success.
The annual championship commemorates the courage, valour and supreme sacrifice of Captain Kenguruse, who was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) for his exceptional bravery.
Beyond promoting football, the tournament aims to inspire young people through the values of courage, discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship. It also provides a platform for emerging football talent to showcase their abilities and engage in healthy sporting competition.
The Assam Rifles said the promotional initiatives reflected its commitment to promoting sports, encouraging youth participation and strengthening its bond with local communities.
