Kupwara, April 7: In a swift response, troops of Vajr Sappers successfully carried out a rescue and recovery operation after a Maruti Baleno met with an accident on NH-701 near Karalpora village on Monday evening.
Around 04:45 PM, Maruti Baleno enroute from Srinagar to Chowkibal, skidded off the road and plunged nearly 25 meters into the valley. On receiving information, troops from nearest Army unit from Niyari rushed to the site and mobilised resources to rescue the car. Troops promptly rescued the injured travellers, evacuated them to Karalpora Hospital and recovered the car using a 20 T heavy duty crane. Troops also ensured smooth traffic management throughout the rescue operation in coordination with local police to prevent inconvenience to the locals.
