Imphal, Aug 10: Assam Rifles conducted a series of NCC training and Vande Mataram awareness programmes across Chandel and Kakching districts of Manipur from August 4 to 9 as part of the commemoration of 150 years of Vande Mataram and the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign.
The initiatives brought together students, teachers, NCC cadets and Assam Rifles personnel, with a focus on patriotism, discipline, national service and greater awareness about career opportunities in the Armed Forces.
At Joupi, a Vande Mataram awareness programme was attended by 30 students, five teachers and 10 Assam Rifles personnel. An additional outreach session was organised at Mombi, engaging local communities and youth in discussions centred on national unity and the significance of the campaign.
A major component of the programme was held at Kha Manipur College, Kakching, where an Annual Training Camp brought together 450 NCC cadets, three Associate NCC Officers and 62 Assam Rifles personnel.
The training programme included a range of activities designed to develop physical fitness, discipline and leadership qualities among the cadets. Participants also attended sessions on medical and hygiene awareness, India's history and heritage, gender sensitisation and career opportunities in the Armed Forces.
The cadets were further familiarised with military equipment through an equipment display, while Tirangas were distributed to reinforce the spirit of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. The programme also featured collective singing of Vande Mataram, providing a strong platform for students to express their commitment to national unity and pride.
Officials said the initiatives were aimed at encouraging young people to embrace discipline, patriotism and a spirit of national service while providing them with greater exposure to opportunities in the Armed Forces.
The programmes also strengthened interaction between security personnel and local communities, contributing to greater military-civil cooperation and national integration.
Through youth-focused training, awareness sessions and community outreach, Assam Rifles continues to use such initiatives to promote leadership, civic responsibility and a sense of national belonging among students and young people in Manipur.
