JKAACL honours Hasrat Gadda

Srinagar, July 2:The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) on Wednesday organised an interactive programme titled “An Interaction” with eminent writer, cultural scholar and literary figure G.R. Hasrat Gadda at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothi Bagh, Srinagar.
The programme was presided over by Prof. Gulshan Majeed, while Dr. Abdul Ahad attended as the Chief Guest. Prof. Farooq Fayaz graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
At the outset, Ideel Saleem, Additional Secretary (Kashmir), JKAACL, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the Academy’s continued commitment to honouring distinguished literary personalities and promoting the rich literary and cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.
The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Sameena Wani, Principal of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothi Bagh. She warmly welcomed the guests and appreciated the Academy for providing students and literature enthusiasts with an opportunity to interact closely with eminent writers through such meaningful programmes.
On the occasion, noted scholar Gulshan Badrani presented a comprehensive paper on the life and literary contributions of G.R. Hasrat Gadda. The paper offered an in-depth account of his creative journey, literary achievements, and invaluable services to the promotion and enrichment of the Kashmiri language and literature.
The presentation was followed by an engaging interaction session in which participants appreciated Hasrat Gadda’s remarkable literary legacy and exchanged views on various aspects of his writings and contributions.
Speaking on the occasion, the distinguished speakers paid rich tributes to G.R. Hasrat Gadda for his outstanding contribution to Kashmiri literature. They underscored the importance of sustaining literary and cultural initiatives to preserve, promote and strengthen the region’s rich literary traditions and cultural heritage for future generations.
During the programme, the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages honoured G.R. Hasrat Gadda with a traditional shawl and a commemorative memento in recognition of his lifelong literary services. He was also felicitated with shawls and gifts by the Gulshan Cultural Forum and Meezan Publishers.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Rather, while Javaid Iqbal Khan, Editor (Kashmiri), JKAACL, presented the vote of thanks. He expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guests, participants, the host institution and everyone who contributed to the successful organisation of the event.
