
The Director General of Police of Jammu & Kashmir Police, Nalin Prabhat, on Friday chaired a joint security review meeting to assess the overall security situation and operational preparedness in Handwara and Kupwara districts.
The meeting was attended by several senior officers, including Special DG (Coordination) S.J.M. Geelani, IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi, DIG North Kashmir Range Maqsood-ul-Zaman, SSP Handwara, SSP Kupwara, Additional SPs, SDPOs, DySP Operations, SHOs, and other field officers of both districts.
During the meeting, the SSPs of Handwara and Kupwara briefed the DGP about the current security environment. They presented details of counter-terrorism operations, anti-narcotics drives, steps to curb terror financing, and area domination plans. A detailed review of surveillance systems, border security, and preparedness to tackle emerging threats was also carried out.
The DGP carefully reviewed the existing strategies and stressed the need for proactive, intelligence-based, and technology-driven policing to eliminate terrorist threats. He directed officers to take strict action against anyone supporting or facilitating terror activities and emphasized zero tolerance towards terrorism.
He also instructed the officers to strengthen human intelligence networks, improve technical surveillance, and maintain close coordination with the Army, CAPFs, and other security agencies. He said real-time information sharing and quick action are essential to prevent terrorist activities and maintain peace.
Officers shared ground-level feedback and discussed operational challenges during the meeting.
The DGP appreciated the efforts of Handwara and Kupwara Police and urged all officers to remain alert, dedicated, and committed to ensuring peace, stability, and security in the region.
