Srinagar, Sep 20: The 2nd Legends Underwater Sports Championship 2026 concluded on Sunday at the Water Sports Centre, Nigeen, with more than 100 swimmers participating in six swimming and underwater sports events.

The championship was organised by Swim N Survival Society Kashmir (SnSS-K) in collaboration with The Legends School of Education, with the aim of promoting swimming, underwater sports and water-safety awareness among young swimmers.
The competitions witnessed enthusiastic participation across different age groups and disciplines.
In the 100-metre Freestyle, Zaid Bin Riyaz secured the first position, followed by Ateeb Ahmad Patloo and Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad.
Zainab Bin Riyaz topped the 50-metre Girls event, while Mavra Noor and Ayra Tanveer secured the second and third positions, respectively.
In the Open Water Long-Distance event, Azaan Gulzar finished first, followed by Parvaiz Abbas and Muhammad Mukaram Wani.
The 200-metre Bi-Fins event was won by Sheikh Mohammad Ahmad, with Ateeb Ahmad Patloo finishing second and Zaid Bin Riyaz third.
In the 50-metre Bi-Fins event, Abdullah secured the top position, followed by Ahmad Aijaz and Affan Bin Iqbal.
In the 100-metre Junior Boys event, Adnan Firdous finished first, followed by Muhammad Aleem Ibaad and Zain Iqbal.
The winners and participating swimmers were felicitated with prizes and certificates at the concluding ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Imran Ahmad, Chairman, The Legends School of Education, appreciated the organisers for providing young swimmers with a platform to compete and develop their skills. He also encouraged the participants to pursue swimming and water sports with dedication. Recalling his own association with the sport, he said he had been a swimmer during his school days at Biscoe School.
The concluding ceremony was attended by Dr Sheikh Tariq, Vice President, SnSS-K; Yasir Makhdoomi, Secretary, SnSS-K; Riyaz Ahmad, water sports expert; Zahid Iqbal, swimming instructor; and Faheem Ali, long-distance swimmer and triathlete, among others.
Shakeel Ahmad Shah, President, SnSS-K, said the organisation would continue to provide young swimmers with opportunities to participate in competitive swimming and underwater sports, while simultaneously creating greater awareness about water safety and lifesaving.
The championship concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates, marking another initiative aimed at encouraging young talent in swimming and water sports in Kashmir.o
