Widespread rain likely across J&K over next 4 days

Srinagar, July 28: The Meteorological Department Kashmir has predicted fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thunderstorms across Jammu and Kashmir over the next 24 hours, with wet weather expected to persist during the following two days.

According to the forecast, many places across the union Territory are likely to witness one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers on July 28 and 29, particularly during the early morning and late afternoon to evening hours.
The weather office has also warned of heavy rainfall and brief intense showers at a few districts of the Jammu division during this period.
For July 30 and 31, the Meteorological Centre has predicted one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at most places across the Kashmir division. Brief intense heavy showers are also possible at isolated places, mainly during the early morning and late afternoon to evening hours.
It also predicted few spells of light to moderate rain, thundershower at most places with possibility of heavy rain/torrential rain/brief intense heavy showers at few district of Jammu region with heavy to very heavy rain over Udhampur & adjoining areas towards late night, morning hours and afternoon, evening hours (peak activity during 30th July night).
“On August 1-2, there will be one or two spells of light to moderate rain, thundershower at many places with brief intense showers,” the MeT official said.
He said on August 3-4, one or two spells of light to moderate Rain/thundershower are expected at many places with possibility of heavy rain/brief intense heavy showers/torrential rain over few districts of Jammu region.
The MeT warned that there is possibility of heavy rain, brief intense heavy showers at few districts of Jammu region during next 5 days (peak activity 30-31 July) with heavy to very heavy rainfall over Udhampur & adjoining areas on 30th July .
“The torrential rain, brief intense heavy showers may generate flash floods, landslides, mudslides at many vulnerable places during 28July-1st Aug,” it cautioned.
The MeT has advised residents to follow administration advisory.
