Whole-of-Govt approach powers Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan

850 NDPS FIRs lodged, 942 arrested; 55 drug-linked houses demolished, 71 immovable properties worth ₹46.32 Cr attached

Srinagar, May 23: The ongoing Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyaan has emerged as one of the most extensive anti-drug drives in Jammu and Kashmir, registering large-scale achievements across awareness, enforcement, rehabilitation, and surveillance sectors under a whole-of-government approach.

Officials said the campaign has so far mobilised lakhs of citizens, with over one crore people participating in 16,37,484 awareness events conducted across the Union Territory during the ongoing Nasha Mukht Abhiyaan.
The outreach includes padyatras, road shows, school and college programmes, village-level drives, seminars, counselling sessions, cultural events, sports activities and social media campaigns aimed at spreading awareness about the dangers of substance abuse.
As part of mental health support initiatives, 3,572 counselling calls were received through Tele-MANAS and related services, providing psychological assistance to individuals affected by addiction and distress.
On the treatment and rehabilitation front, 58,603 patients were registered at Addiction Treatment Facilities, including 58,138 OPD cases and 465 IPD admissions, while 192 patients recovered and were discharged. Social Welfare-run rehabilitation centres also supported 634 patients, conducted 1,055 counselling sessions, and reported 29 recoveries, with 851 patients currently under care. Police-run centres additionally registered 451 patients, provided counselling to 786 individuals, and recorded 138 recoveries.
In parallel, enforcement agencies intensified action against narcotics networks, registering 850 NDPS FIRs and arresting 942 individuals, including 293 drug peddlers, while identifying 49 drug hotspots for focused intervention.
Authorities also targeted the financial backbone of the drug trade, attaching or seizing properties worth several crores. So far, 55 drug-linked houses have been sealed or demolished, 71 immovable properties (₹46.32 crore approx.) seized or attached, along with 34 demolitions worth ₹16.48 crore, and 42 movable assets worth ₹2.14 crore.
Regulatory action extended to related systems as well, with 414 driving licences suspended, 118 drug store licences suspended, 2 cancelled, along with 1,285 Aadhaar cancellation applications processed and 119 passport impoundment cases initiated.
The major narcotics recoveries include over 6.4 kg heroin, 47 kg charas, and over 251 kg ganja, along with thousands of tablets, while 65 kg poppy plants and 47 kanals of cultivation were destroyed.
Surveillance measures have also been strengthened with 6,436 chemists inspected, 6,881 CCTV cameras installed, and 2,127 schools and hospitals checked to prevent drug circulation near sensitive locations. Intelligence-based operations led to the examination of 386 suspects, identification of 3,045 peddlers and smugglers, and 36 preventive PIT-NDPS detentions.
Officials said the campaign is not only an enforcement drive but a comprehensive social movement involving government departments, police, educational institutions, civil society, healthcare workers, religious leaders, and local communities working together towards a drug-free Jammu & Kashmir.
