Waterlogging disrupts normal life in Srinagar

June 14, 2026 | Shugufta Rashid

Srinagar, June 13: Several parts of Srinagar witnessed waterlogging after continuous rainfall, causing inconvenience to commuters and disrupting normal life in low-lying areas of the city.

Key roads, intersections, and residential localities reported accumulation of water, leading to slow traffic movement and hardship for pedestrians. Vehicles were seen navigating through waterlogged stretches, while residents in affected areas expressed concern over poor drainage management.
The weather conditions, marked by intermittent rain, further worsened the situation, with authorities keeping a close watch on vulnerable points prone to flooding. Municipal teams were reportedly alerted to address drainage blockages and restore normal flow of water in affected areas.
Despite the inconvenience, no major damage has been reported so far. However, residents have urged authorities to strengthen drainage infrastructure and ensure timely dewatering measures to prevent recurring waterlogging during rains.
Officials have advised people to exercise caution while travelling and avoid waterlogged routes wherever possible until conditions improve.
