
Baramulla, Oct 10: The UT-Level Under-17 Boys Inter-District Football Championship was inaugurated at St. Joseph’s School Ground in Baramulla, bringing together young footballers from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir to showcase their talent, teamwork and sporting spirit.
The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Baramulla, attended the inaugural ceremony as the Chief Guest and marked the commencement of the championship, which is being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Baramulla, from October 8 to 14, 2026.
The tournament provides a platform for budding footballers to demonstrate their skills, compete at the Union Territory level and gain valuable experience through inter-district competition. It also aims to encourage sportsmanship, discipline and healthy competition among young players.
The participation of teams from different districts is expected to make the championship an engaging sporting event while offering promising players an opportunity to showcase their potential.
The initiative reflects the role of the Department of Youth Services and Sports in promoting grassroots sports and nurturing young talent across Jammu and Kashmir. Such competitions also encourage young people to embrace an active lifestyle and develop qualities of leadership, teamwork and perseverance.
The championship will continue at St. Joseph’s School Ground until October 14, with participating teams competing for top honours.
