Srinagar, Sep 13: The District Wushu Championship Srinagar 2026, organised by the District Wushu Association Srinagar, commenced today at the Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar, with an impressive opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony was graced by Mr. Kuldeep Handoo, Dronacharya Awardee and Chief Coach of India, followed by Mr. Mohammed Maqsood Rather, Joint Secretary, Wushu Association of J&K. Mr. Sadat Nisar Wani, Vice President, Wushu Association of J&K, Mr. Waqar Khan, Mr. Ajaz Hussain, Mr. Rameez Ahmad Dar, and Mr. Irfan Ahmad Wani were also present on the occasion.
The championship witnessed enthusiastic participation of around 400 players from different clubs, schools and institutions of Srinagar district. The athletes are competing in various age and weight categories.
The dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the District Wushu Association Srinagar in promoting Wushu among young athletes and providing them with a platform to showcase their talent.
The championship will continue on 14th September 2026 and will conclude with the closing ceremony on 14th September 2026.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Mohammed Maqsood Rather, who expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, officials, coaches, players, parents and volunteers for their valuable support in making the championship successful.
