Imphal, Aug 22: Security forces intensified intelligence-based operations in Manipur, with formations under the Spear Corps, in coordination with the State Police, carrying out joint operations in Churachandpur and Tengnoupal districts.

The operations resulted in the recovery of 17 weapons, ammunition and other war-like stores, in a significant move aimed at disrupting the availability of illicit arms and strengthening security in the region.
According to the security forces, the operations were conducted on the basis of specific intelligence inputs and focused on denying armed elements access to weapons and other military-related material that could threaten peace and stability.
The recovery of the weapons is being viewed as an important step in strengthening the security environment in the two districts, which remain strategically significant amid continuing efforts to maintain peace and prevent the movement and use of illegal arms.
The coordinated action also underscored the importance of operational synergy between the Army and police forces in tackling security challenges. Intelligence sharing, coordinated searches and joint deployment enable security agencies to respond more effectively to threats and prevent illicit weapons from reaching elements seeking to disturb public order.
