Spear Corps honours veterans in Mizoram

August 24, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Aizawl, Aug 23: Reaffirming its enduring commitment to the welfare and dignity of veterans and their families, formations under the Spear Corps organised an Ex-Servicemen Rally at Aizawl in coordination with the Government of Mizoram, Department of Sainik Welfare & Resettlement, Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association (ARESA) and Mizoram Ex-Servicemen League (MESL).

The rally brought together 354 participants, including Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris, next of kin, families and dependents, providing a platform to acknowledge their service, address their concerns and strengthen the support network available to them.
The event was attended by the Governor of Mizoram, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), as the Chief Guest, along with Home Minister K Sapdanga and other dignitaries. Their presence underscored the importance attached to the welfare of veterans and their families and recognised the sacrifices made by personnel who served the nation.
A key highlight of the rally was the felicitation of Padma Shri awardee C Kamlova in recognition of his dedicated service to the nation. His contribution was acknowledged as an inspiration and a reminder of the lasting impact of service and commitment to the country.
The event also focused on providing tangible assistance to veterans and their families facing financial and medical hardships. Financial assistance was extended to Veer Naris and Ex-Servicemen in need, offering immediate support to those confronting difficult circumstances.
Such assistance assumes particular significance for families of fallen soldiers and veterans dealing with medical challenges, financial constraints and other post-service difficulties. By bringing beneficiaries together on a common platform, the rally enabled greater interaction between veterans, government authorities and representatives of the Armed Forces.
The event also provided an opportunity to understand the concerns of the veteran community and strengthen coordination among organisations working for their welfare. Collaboration between the Army, the Mizoram Government, Sainik Welfare and Resettlement authorities and veterans’ associations helps ensure that welfare measures reach intended beneficiaries more efficiently.
The rally reflected a broader commitment to maintaining the bond between serving personnel, veterans and the communities they have served. For Ex-Servicemen, such initiatives provide recognition of their contribution while also creating avenues to seek assistance and resolve welfare-related concerns.
For Veer Naris and families of veterans, the outreach carries an equally important message—that their sacrifices and service remain valued and that institutional support continues beyond the period of active military duty.
The Ex-Servicemen Rally at Aizawl thus combined recognition with assistance, bringing together gratitude, welfare and community engagement. It reaffirmed the Spear Corps’ commitment to standing alongside veterans, Veer Naris and their families and ensuring that those who dedicated their lives to the nation continue to receive dignity, care and support.
