Guwahati/Imphal, Oct 8: Formations under the Spear Corps of the Indian Army conducted a series of medical outreach programmes across Assam and Manipur, providing healthcare services and awareness support to communities in remote and border areas.
In Assam, a vaccination drive and a cancer awareness lecture were organised at Dinjan, focusing on preventive healthcare and the importance of timely medical intervention. The initiative aimed to improve health awareness among local residents and encourage regular screening and vaccination.
An Operation Sadbhavna medical camp was also organised at Kadamtala in Assam, offering medical consultation and basic healthcare services to residents. The camp provided an opportunity for people in the area to access medical assistance closer to their homes.
In Manipur, a medical outreach programme was conducted in Imphal East, extending healthcare services to local beneficiaries. The initiative focused on providing medical consultation and addressing common health concerns among residents.
Another medical and dental camp was organised across six border villages in Kamjong district, where beneficiaries received specialist medical and dental care. The outreach was aimed at addressing healthcare needs in remote locations where access to specialised medical services remains challenging.
The Army said such initiatives are aimed at strengthening community engagement and improving access to healthcare, particularly for people living in remote and border areas.
The medical outreach programmes also reflect the Army's continued focus on community welfare under its broader Operation Sadbhavna initiatives, through which formations undertake various humanitarian, healthcare, education and developmental activities for local communities.
The programmes received participation from residents and provided essential medical support while promoting awareness about preventive healthcare and healthy living.
