
Kohima, June 20: In the run-up to International Yoga Day 2026, Spear Corps formations of the Indian Army organised large-scale yoga sessions across Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, bringing together troops, veterans, families, school children and civilians.
The events were conducted at multiple prominent and remote locations including Parashuram Kund, Golden Pagoda, Chowkham, Kamlangnagar, Tezu, Chaglagam, Hayuliang, Kibithu, Walong War Memorial and Helmet Top, highlighting both cultural and strategic significance of the region.
Simultaneous yoga sessions were also held in Siang Valley and at Leimakhong Military Station in Manipur, reflecting widespread participation across the Northeast.
The initiative was conducted under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, promoting holistic well-being, physical fitness and mental resilience among participants. Army personnel led the sessions, guiding participants through various asanas and breathing exercises.
Officials said the programme aimed to strengthen the bond between the armed forces and local communities while encouraging a healthy lifestyle and collective well-being.
Participants from all walks of life joined the sessions, showcasing unity and enthusiasm for yoga as a shared practice of discipline, health and harmony.
The Indian Army reaffirmed its commitment to promoting wellness initiatives and fostering strong civil-military relations across the region through such outreach programmes.
