
Srinagar, Oct 9: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), in collaboration with Bharatiya Kisan Sangh and the J&K Kisan Advisory Board, organised a seminar on natural farming at its Shalimar campus.
The seminar brought together agricultural experts, scientists and farmers to discuss scientifically validated and location-specific approaches to promoting sustainable, resource-efficient and environmentally friendly agriculture in Jammu and Kashmir.
The discussions focused on promoting natural farming practices, reducing cultivation costs, improving farmers’ incomes and protecting soil health and natural resources.
Participants also stressed the importance of strengthening scientific research and farmer–scientist collaboration to develop farming models suited to the region’s diverse agro-climatic conditions.
The initiative aims to encourage sustainable agricultural practices while supporting farmers in adopting locally appropriate methods that can improve productivity, reduce input costs and ensure long-term environmental sustainability.
