
Mon, Feb 14: In a significant step toward women’s empowerment and community development, the Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Spear Corps, inaugurated a renovated Skill Development Centre for Women at Aboi Village in Mon district of Nagaland on Friday. The initiative was undertaken as part of Operation Sadbhavana, aimed at fostering goodwill and sustainable development in remote and border areas.
The refurbished centre has been equipped with improved infrastructure, modern training tools, and enhanced facilities to provide vocational training tailored to local needs. The focus areas include tailoring, weaving, handicrafts, and other income-generating skills that can enable women to become financially self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to their households and community.
Senior officials of Assam Rifles, local civil administration representatives, village elders, and community members attended the inauguration ceremony. Addressing the gathering, officials emphasized that empowering women through skill development is key to building resilient communities and promoting long-term socio-economic progress in the region.
Local residents expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that the upgraded centre would open new avenues for self-employment and entrepreneurship among women in Aboi and nearby villages.
