Sinha orders fortifying security grid to tackle emerging threats

Jammu, April 29: Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the security scenario, progress on Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan and District wise preparations for the forthcoming pilgrimages.
The meeting was attended by Atal Dullo, Chief Secretary, Nalin Prabhat, DGP, Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary Home Department, S.J.M.Gillani, Spl DG Coordination PHQ, Sh Nitish Kumar, ADGP, CID, Dr. Mandeep Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor, M Raju, Commissioner/Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department, Sarmad Hafeez Commissioner/Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Ram Niwas Sharma, Commissioner/Secretary School Education Department, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, IGP Jammu, DIGs, Deputy Commissioners and SSPs from Jammu Division.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioners and SSPs apprised the Lieutenant Governor of the law and order and security scenario in their respective districts.
They also gave details on the progress of 100 days campaign of the ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan’ and preparations regarding the conduct of different pilgrimages in their respective districts including Amarnath Yatra, Kausar Nag Yatra and Budha Amarnath Yatra.
The Lieutenant Governor directed the DCs and SSPs for ensuring seamless coordination between the Police, Civil administration and the security forces.
He asked them to conduct the Block and Thana Diwas regularly for resolving the general grievances of the public.
Sinha also directed for outcome-based efforts with the whole of society approach for fighting the drug menace.
He called for stringent action against the drug smugglers and peddlers in coordination with all the stakeholders.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized identifying narco-corridors in Jammu Division to dismantle hotspots and networks operating in those areas completely. He also stressed the need to conduct a study on region-wise substance abuse trends and a Vulnerability Index, using WHO's standard methodology.
The Lieutenant Governor further directed the DCs to drive seamless execution of the Vibrant Villages Programme to deliver rural health, development, economic transformation, and social upliftment and to mandate 100% screening for non-communicable diseases.
Sinha issued a firm directive to fortify the security grid through unwavering coordination among all security forces, ensuring a seamless and impenetrable shield against emerging threats. He directed for the strictest possible action against individuals and OGWs harboring terrorists, vowing zero tolerance for those who shelter threats to national security.
