
Shopian, Oct 3: A case has been registered in South Kashmir's Shopian against a man accused of allegedly using social media to impersonate officials of various government administrative offices and deceive people through fraudulent representations.
The accused has been identified as Umer Shamaim Ganie, a resident of Meemandar, Shopian. According to the allegations, he impersonated public servants through social media and used the false identities to deceive different persons.
The case also involves allegations of cheating and fraud, criminal intimidation and wrongful restraint. Police have registered FIR No. 207/2026 at Police Station Shopian under Sections 204, 318(2), 319(2), 351(2) and 126(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
